The Man Himself

Hoodie Allen was born Steven Markowitz on August 19th, 1988 in Long Island.
He started writing lyrics as a young child and would perform raps for his friends at various parties. He had a nickname growing up of “hoodie”. The goal was that this name would stick in people’s minds making him unforgettable.
Hoodie went to and graduated from the universit of Pennsylvania in 2010. He was a brother in Alpha Epsilon Pi. While at UPenn, he met RJF, his producer.
After school completing school, he worked at Google for the new START program. By day he was working with one of the largest corporations we know, and by night he was writing songs, answering fan mail, and scheduling concerts. When his live shows became more relevant and apparent, he left google to pursue his dreams.
Hoodie’s album releases are Bagels & Beats, Making Waves (both debuted in 2009) made MTVU best Music on Campus award!
In 2010 he realased “You are not a robot” Featuring the “I am not a robot” by Marina & the Diamonts which came to number 1 on Hype Machine.
Later that year in September, Pep Rally came out. This mixtape was downloaded over 200,000 times.
In 2011 his mixtape Leap Year was released. Reaching 250,000 plays in it’s first week on SoundCloud, the album was quite a success.
On April 10th, 2012 All American was released. This was Hoodie’s first EP that would be for sale. Less than two hours after its release, All American went number 1 on iTunes!
Hoodie is currently on an North American Tour and will be heading over seas on a UK tour!
Hoodie is one of the brightest, and most fabulous artists of our time. He has shown that he has great promise as well as a great education and outlook on life.
